I have a question about how I can rotate an entire point cloud. Every photogrammetry model I create is skewed
Lasso will penetrate the model on the other side, often making me choose one side and then go to the other side to cancel the choices I don't want. It's too bad
I try to follow that tutuorial but it uses to many shortcuts, the model magicaly appears in the UE , What format did you use for format, an exactly how did you imported it into the UE. It is a hard task. Can you show how you did that? I tried FBX export for the model of 30M tris and the file was like 490 Mb. That does not import properly to UE on the machine with 12GB of VRAM and 64 GB of ram. UE just crashes. so ther must be some trick here.
Is this any better than one of those small lidar scanners ?
any talk about just being able to do VIDEO and the software take the stills it needs? This would be much more efficient. AI to the rescue !!
You can do this in the software, you just select the interval the images are taken at and RC will make the stills for you. It can be useful in some very specific situations, but the results are far inferior to stills due to 4k being lower res than most stills and video compression artefacts. It is equally efficient to use interval shooting mode with stills, and there is no compromise on quality.

Looks like very powerful software, but you really really need to get someone in who understands UX. So many hidden interaction modes, so many tool bars and weirdly named options

The select by largest component worked, but for some reason when I click on box selection, the widgets for the axis don't show up. I'm in vertex mode and don't think I have any other tools activated that might mess with the widgets.

Any phone It only need photos
No Special Sensors needed, but you get better models with better camera quality

Is there an advantage of doing this with still shots as opose to video camera?
In most cases the images are better that video (better resolution, focus, stability, no blur) and basically you should receive a better model from still images than from video. Therefore the images are used in the process.

I don't think that down arrow key confirms suggestion of control point any longer right? For me it does switch to the next view, it just doesn't confirm.
Hi, it works that way. It confirms the measurement and goes to next the image.
Mine does not do this. I can create a recording for you. It would be a huge improvement if it both confirmed and moved to the next image. I’m using the latest free version.
@@alonsorobots Feel free to record the video. For the suggestion you need to see the unassigned control points in 1Ds view (the ones with green plus sign next to them). Then you need to open the image with control point in 2D view, hover the mouse over the point, click and push the left mouse button, correct the control point's position and confirm it by pushing the down arrow key (6:09 in the video).
@@CapturingReality I realize now that you have to click and *hold down* the left mouse button for it to auto confirm and move unto next. Also, for me it's not the down arrow key, but the left and right arrow keys. Maybe it's a language difference?
@@alonsorobots No, it is not a language difference. Left/right key shows the next image in the capturing order, up/down key shows the image where the point is suggested.

You’ll be able to continue using them and you are not required to accept the new EULA or purchase any seats of the new subscription offer. In addition, when we release 1.4, you will be given twelve months of free updates after which, if you choose to update to further newer versions, you’ll have the opportunity to review the EULA and decide if you wish to purchase a subscription or determine if you are entitled to free usage.

When Gaussian splats?
When I try to export the LAS file I do not have the option to export PROJECT OUTPUT for coordinate system. I setup my coordinate system in settings in the beginning.
To use the option Project output you need to have georeferenced project. Do you see the pin icon next to your component?
@@CapturingReality Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. When I brought in the ground control, i used "add control points", it added NEW points and not under the points I brought in. Even though In 1d I had the imported point selected, it would add a new outside the imported points. So I just ended up manually adding points thinking they were part of the imported GCPs but they were not, obviously.

This is a really great video. I would almost say this is the only thing you need to know as a beginner using the software for the first time. Figuring out how to merge components was the main problem as a beginner IMO and this video clearly fixes that problem.

Thanks: I cannot find "Large triangle removal threshold" in the current version (1.3) of Reality Capture. Is it still in use. I usually just run WORKFLOW>Start when I am ready which gives me several models at different resolutions. But if "Large triangle removal" will give me better quality then I would like that. OOPS - I have found it. Thanks again

I need to create a high-resolution texture from a 15-meter long piece of marble that is flat. I'm considering using RealityCapture or similar software to streamline the process. Would you recommend capturing a video of the marble and letting the software handle the stitching directly from the video stream, or would it be better to capture individual high-resolution photos and feed those into the software? Great set of videos, thank you for going into so much detail. I've a question about the number of GCPs to use. I'm mapping an earthworks site which is around 14acres and am using a total station to set some GCPs throughout the site. On my last model I used 18 GCPs. Is there any disadvantage to using so many, other than taking more time to confirm locations in the images?
No, it is even better. If you have some many of them, you can some use as check points to check the actual quality of the model.

Do you mean for selection? Only lasso, rectangle and box are available.
Wish it could have utilized the iPhone's lidar sensor. The results would be much better.
Amazing tutorial. I was able to follow along pretty well even with the newer 1.4V. I did all the work and when I did the alignment the second time it said " unsupported camera model and the calibration parameters is not supported. why the heck didnt it tell me that an hr and a half ago and before the account set up. what a pain in the ass.

hi, what does the "CTRL+R" do, when you press it twice? i tried to look in some manuals, but there is only mentioning of single pressing this combo .. also, if I need to delete some mis-aligment, how can I do that? Can I delete the source photos directly? as I found out only after alignment, which are wrong ..
Hi, CTRL+R - Disable an image - Disable/enable an image selected in the 3D view for further processing. It is not possible to delete the image after alignment. You can disable it for the alignment and then align your data again.
